Remove a date stamp from a photo

AI model loads on first use (~28 MB, cached afterwards).

0×0px · Paint over anything, press Enter. Shortcuts: B / E / H, [ ], Ctrl+Z. Your photo never leaves this device.

Film and early digital cameras loved to print the date in bright orange digits in the corner of every shot. Decades later those numbers often spoil otherwise lovely family photos. Object Remover can erase a date stamp in a few seconds, without uploading your memories to anyone.

Scan or photograph the print, open it in the editor, paint over the digits and let the AI rebuild the corner. Because date stamps are small and usually sit on grass, sky, floors or clothing, the results are typically very clean. The demo image above includes a stamp in the bottom right you can try right now.

The tool runs entirely in your browser using an AI model that downloads once and is then cached on your device. It is free, has no account system, and exports at full resolution so your scans keep their detail.

Date stamps are also common on photos from cheap digital cameras and early phone apps, which often added a white or yellow timestamp. The same approach works for all of them. If you are restoring an old album for a family gathering or a printed book, cleaning the stamps first makes the pages look calmer and more timeless.

How to do it in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Scan or open your photo

Use a scanner or your phone camera to capture the print, then open the file here. Straighten and crop it first if needed.

  2. 2

    Paint over the date

Zoom in on the corner and brush across all digits and apostrophes. Include the soft orange halo that many cameras left around the numbers.

  3. 3

    Remove and save

Press Remove painted area, compare before and after, and download. JPG at quality 92 is fine for most family photos.

Tips & limits

  • Zoom to the corner before painting; a precise mask gives a cleaner repair than a big blob.
  • If the stamp is on a mix of textures, such as grass and a shoe, remove it in two parts.
  • Clean scanner dust at the same time by dabbing small brush spots and removing them together.
  • Keep your original scan. Download the cleaned version under a new name so you always have both.

Limits: Very low-resolution scans give the AI little texture to copy, so the repaired corner may look slightly soft. If the date overlaps an important detail such as a face, the AI cannot know what was underneath and will make its best guess.

Why use Object Remover for this

Most free object removers upload your picture to a server, shrink it, limit how many edits you can make, or ask you to sign up before you can download. Object Remover takes a different approach. The AI model runs inside your browser, so your photo never leaves your device, the result keeps your original resolution, and there is no account, no daily cap and no watermark. It is part of the TryImager family of free, private, browser-based image tools, built and maintained by an independent developer in Bengaluru, India.

Frequently asked questions

Will removing the date damage my photo?+

No. Only the painted area is changed. Every other pixel of your scan stays exactly as it was, and you can undo any removal.

Can I do a whole album?+

Yes. There is no daily limit. Open each photo, remove the stamp and download. The AI model stays cached so later photos start faster.

What scan resolution should I use?+

300 to 600 DPI is a good range. Higher scans are scaled to 4096 pixels on the long side on computers, which is still large enough for prints.

Does it work with digital camera timestamps too?+

Yes. Any overlaid date or time, whether orange, white or yellow, can be painted over and removed the same way.

Are my family photos private?+

Completely. The photos are processed inside your browser and never uploaded. Closing the tab clears them from memory.
